The AVID Ringer Aluminum Cap Screws (4) M3x5 are designed for hardcore racers who want to shave off weight while adding sparkle with our Ringer-influenced design. Aluminum screws have been available for decades. However, their strength was an issue as their heads would easily snap off when overtightened or in areas with high stress.

Compared to kit steel screws, switching to titanium screws saves 40% in weight, while aluminum screws can save up to 60% (Screw weight: Steel 0.5g, Ti 0.3g, Al 0.2g). Although aluminum screws are 33% lighter than titanium, they are not as strong.
